Current Character Concept:


“Shadows” is a short animation that follows a newly awakened girl named Elle in a modern fantasy world filled with monsters. In the past decades, shadow-like creatures emerged all over the world and at the same time people have started gaining unique powers. Elle enrolled in the Academy as a legacy student, a place where they started training the Awakeneds and providing protection to the public, fighting night and day against the mysterious creatures to ensure everyone’s safety. The Academy reassures the public the creatures are overall low-threat, unintelligent, and under control. However, Elle uncovers the Academy might not be as reliable as she has always believed it to be during one of her first-ever “low-risk” missions. An optimistic girl who once had full trust in the Academy ever since childhood now must unravel the secrets hidden in the shadows.
In Elle's character sheet, I showcase her bubbly personality through design. Her casual outfits highlight her carefree nature while her Academy-assigned combat suit reveals her serious side.
Early Concepts:


The early concepts of our protagonist on the left are sporty and stern looking. On the other hand, the right side make her appear uninterested or distracted by something.

Front and back of the shadow minion and boss that Elle would be facing. The minion is smaller compared to the boss and is overall less intimidating.
They may look harmless at first, however, they are not to be underestimated. They have sharp claws in contrast of their round body. The boss even has extra sharp edges on his power to showcase the difference in power between the two.

The setting of this story takes place in a modern city inspired by the buildings and layouts in New York. The buildings closet to the camera have modeled in detail, while the ones in the back will have theirs painted onto the textures instead.
